Madras Press is (or was?) an independent small press based in Brookline, MA that publishes longer short stories and novellas as stand-alone paperbacks. Authors in their catalog include David Foster Wallace, Haruki Murakami, Kelly Link, Donald Bartheleme, Lydia Davis, Aimee Bender, Kevin Brockmeier, Ben Marcus, and Trinie Dalton. Proceeds from each book are donated to a charity of the author's choice.
Madras’s inaugural list benefitted: InsideOUT Writers, which conducts writing classes in Los Angeles’s Juvenile Hall System; the Theodore Payne Foundation, which promotes and preserves California wildflowers and native plants; River Keeper, an environmental program; and Helping Hands, which trains monkeys to help the disabled.
